After graduating from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Jay began his career with Chromalox, a division of Emerson Electric, as a Quality Engineer with an emphasis on lean manufacturing. Shortly thereafter he was promoted to Senior Manufacturing Engineer and was responsible for project management, machine design, process engineering and automation. In 2000 Jay became an Automation Engineer for IES in Montgomery, AL, a high-end system integrator and custom automated machine builder. While at IES he was responsible for the sales, design, project management and implementation of many automation and controls projects. During his seven years at IES he gained extensive, hands-on knowledge of industrial automation components such as servos / variable speed drives, operator interfaces, PLCs, sensors and safety products. Jay is proficient in the sales and implementation of automation products and related services and adds a tremendous amount of value to both our channel partners and customer base. In August of 2007 Jay joined R. L. Matus & Associates as our Sales Engineer covering the states of Alabama, Mississippi, and the panhandle of Florida.
